Removing Sodium In Drinking Water

Sodium in drinking water poses a unique challenge to law makers because on the one hand, a high sodium diet can result in high blood pressure. But on the other hand, sodium levels in water are usually very low.

Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL): Because of the usual low levels of sodium in the water supply, this contaminant is on the contaminant candidate list (ccl).

This means that there is no established MCL for this contaminant.

Health Effects: The sodium in our tap water tends to be low so there are no real dangers of it affecting our health.

For those with high blood pressure or on sodium restricted diets, it may be useful to monitor sodium levels in your tap water.

Home Water Treatment Reverse osmosis water filters block the passage of salt particles through its membranes since these particles are larger than water. Also water distillation devices can remove sodium as well.
